Renewed Hope: Ajeromi-Ifelodun LG Distributes Monthly Food, Cash to Aged, Widows

The Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government has hosted the 2nd Edition of the "Ounje Ajeromi and Cash Palliative Programme" for over 1500 aged and widows in the council.
This initiative, led by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Olalekan Olu Akindipe, aimed to complement the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Bola Tinubu and the THEMES agenda of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that during the event, which took place at the Council Secretariat on Oct. 14, over 1,500 elderly and widows received food support and cash palliative.
NAN reports that the event marks the second edition of the initiative, with the first edition held in September.
Akindipe explained that the event highlighted the administration's efforts to support the most vulnerable members of society and promote economic empowerment.
The chairman reiterated that the programme would be a monthly affair, targeting more families until completion and restart.
"We will continue to take data of beneficiaries and identify more residents to benefit, ensuring that the program spreads to all families," he assured.
"Aside from the monthly food support and cash palliative, the administration has other poverty alleviation programme in place.
"These include, the Women SMEs support, Youth and Students support, Information Communication and Technology (ICT), programme for students to assist with JAMB and WAEC registration and preparation.
"Also included in the programme is the Sports and Entertainment development," he said.
Akindipe expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for increasing the monthly allocation to the Local Government, which had enabled the administration to alleviate poverty, support families, and bring democracy dividends to the people.
He also appreciated Sanwo-Olu's commitment to initiating and creating opportunities, reducing poverty, and promoting inclusivity and economic empowerment.
The chairman informed the gathering that ongoing projects, flagged off earlier, were near completion and would be showcased at the 100-day mark in office.
This, he said, demonstrated the administration's commitment to transparency and accountability.
Akindipe called on the masses to continue supporting the government, promising more people-oriented projects and programs that will benefit the community.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the dignitaries present at the event included Prince Rabiu Oluwa who is the Apex Leader Lagos, Badagry Division, and member of Governor's Advisory Committee (GAC), Lagos State.
Others are Yeye Iretiola Taofekat Oluwa who is the wife of the Apex Leader, Hon. Ajibola Ololade Ugbo Anite who is the Vice Chairman, Leader of the House and all Councillors.
Among others are Alhaji Ismail Wanna who is the Community Development committee, Pa Samuel Adeyemi the APC leader, Alhaja Arogundade an APC leader, the Council Manager and Management, NULGE and staff of the local government
