Shops destroyed by officials of the Lagos state government in Costain Market on Thursday By NAN No fewer than dozens of traders and shop owners were displaced and properties worth millions of naira destroyed on Thursday following the demolition of the popular Costain Market in Lagos by officials of the state government. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the operation is carried out by a combined team from the state Task Force, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI). The operation was led by the Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Transport, Mr Sola Giwa. Eyewitnesses said the officials arrived in the early afternoon with bulldozers and security operatives, dispersing traders and passersby with teargas before pulling down rows of shops, stalls, and a mosque.
